The twenty-four-day march lasted from 12 March 1930 to 5 April 1930 as a direct action campaign of tax resistance and nonviolent protest against the British salt monopoly. The Salt March, also known as the Salt Satyagraha, Dandi March and the Dandi Satyagraha, was an act of nonviolent civil disobedience in colonial India led by Mahatma Gandhi. This was such an empowering experience for me personally. "Found an old memory of Mrs Sonia Gandhi and me - In Gujarat for the salt / Dandi march that I worked on with Sunil Dutta in 2005 - Sunil Dutt told me to walk beside Mrs Gandhi as his representative as he could not do a long walk due to his helicopter accident. The first picture features Nafisa Ali walking beside Sonia Gandhi and other members of the Congress party during a rally in Gujarat. The actress had contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from South Kolkata and she recollected some fond memories associated with her political career along with the photos. Nafisa shared two pictures with Sonia Gandhi while one with Rajiv Gandhi.
